Bharat Rajagopal is a contemporary representational artist focused primarily on portraits, figures and still-life paintings. Bharat did his undergraduate study at Falmouth University in England, where he was selected for the Midas Exhibition based on the strength of his degree work. His triptych paintings were exhibited at the Newlyn Gallery, Cornwall in 2017. In 2019 he moved to Florence, Italy to be classically trained in drawing and painting at the Angel Academy of Art. Here he studied under artists Michael John Angel and Jared Woznicki and was exposed to the traditional methods of the Old Masters which had a strong influence on his work.
Although trained in academic realism and gives utmost respect and value to the craft, Bharat explores and experiments with different styles and techniques to develop his visual language and ideas. In 2021 his drawing in graphite, ‘Portrait of Chantal’ was selected for the prestigious Royal Society of Portrait Painters Annual Exhibition held at the Mall Galleries in London.
